Klodina's Flute and Piano Studio

My Story
I discovered my love for the flute at the age of nine. From that moment on, music became the center of my life. I pursued flute performance throughout my middle and high school years, and later at the university level. As a young student, I participated in national flute competitions across the former Yugoslavia, where I earned several prizes. In 1993, I was honored with the title "Best Student of the Year" at the Music Academy of the University of Pristina, Kosovo. Over the years, I have performed in Kosovo, Serbia, Montenegro, Zambia, Uganda, and the United States.
My flute studies began with German teacher Hanulore Plante Dervishi at the "Lorenc Antoni" Music School in Prizren, Kosovo. I continued my education at the University of Pristina under Professor Nikola Atanasov and later graduated in the class of Professor Venera Mehmetagaj Kajtazi. I went on to earn a Master of Music in Flute Performance from “St. Cyril and Methodius” University in Skopje, Macedonia, under Professor Beti Stankovska, while also specializing in Professor Nikola Atanasov’s class. I have attended numerous masterclasses, including with Nikola Atanasov (Macedonia) on flute teaching methodology, Boris Previsic (Switzerland) on contemporary music, and Pierre-Yves Artaud (France) on advanced performance techniques.

Flute performance and teaching are my greatest passions. I began teaching as a postgraduate student, starting with solfeggio at the “Lorenc Antoni” Music School. Soon after, I transitioned to full-time flute instruction. Many of my students have gone on to complete their own master’s degrees and become internationally recognized performers.

My journey has not been without challenges. I continued teaching and performing even through the Balkan wars and while relocating across several countries. During a decade spent in Africa, I taught flute and performed solo and chamber music in numerous concerts and recitals. I had the privilege of working with students from a wide range of countries, including Kosovo, Zambia, Uganda, Rwanda, Ireland, Germany, Italy, Australia, South Korea, and more.

I also served as Head of the Woodwind Instruments Department at the Africa Institute of Music (AIM) in Kampala, Uganda. The Director of AIM, Dr. Maria Park Kim (PhD in Composition), was inspired by my dedication to music and education. She composed a unique piece for flute and traditional African instruments (amadinda and drums), which we performed together with Ugandan musicians in several concerts.

Today, I continue to share my passion for music through private flute instruction from my home studio, offering lessons both in person and virtually. I teach students of all ages and levels using a variety of online platforms, including Google Meet, Zoom, Skype, and FaceTime, allowing for flexible and accessible learning. I am located in Lutherville, Maryland, and remain deeply committed to creating a supportive, engaging environment where students can grow musically and confidently.
